Overview
A marine handheld that floats
A 2.5 watt VHF marine handheld that is submersible to JIS8 and floats if it goes over the side. Triple Watch keeps an ear on Channels 16 and 9 while you talk on another.
It covers the international marine VHF channels, with one-touch access to Channel 16 or 9. Switch between 1W to save battery and 2.5W for maximum transmit power. The backlit display is easy to read at night, and the radio sits in a table-top drop-in charger between trips.

The MHS050 is submersible and waterproof to the JIS8 standard, and without the carabiner clip attached the radio floats, so a slip off the deck is not the end of it. Triple Watch monitors Channel 16 and Channel 9 while you listen to your selected channel, and one button takes you straight to Channel 16 or 9. Memory scan runs through the channels you have programmed.

Does the MHS050 really float?
Yes. The radio floats on its own. Uniden notes this applies to the radio only, when the carabiner clip is not attached.
How waterproof is it?
It meets the JIS8 standard, defined as protection against the effects of continuous immersion in water.
Can it talk to UHF CB radios?
No. The MHS050 is a VHF marine radio and uses the international marine VHF channels, not the UHF CB band used by 4WD and handheld UHF radios.
